A reservoir on the Wierzbiak

The Mściwojów reservoir was created by damming the Wierzbiak river with an earth embankment, as part of a project prepared in the circle of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. It serves flood protection and water retention, yet it looks like a natural lake set into the landscape of the Kaczawa Foothills.

What to see

An educational nature trail runs along the right bank, with an exhibition of rocks from the Kaczawa Foothills, and old wayside shrines stand by the road. Higher up there is a viewing tower and shelters with information boards, further on the dam and, beside it, the ruins of a former wine press house. The left bank, with a wide view of the water, woods and meadows, is open to anglers.

Time by the water

A beach with a supervised bathing area has been laid out here, along with a kayak landing, a scout station and shelters with barbecue spots. In summer instructors run kayaking and windsurfing classes, and the sailing station hosts a sailing picnic.
