A lake in the Olsztyn Lakeland

Jezioro Jemiołowo lies in the Olsztynek commune, Olsztyn county, in the Olsztyn Lakeland. It is a fairly shallow body of water with a simple shoreline — flat in places, elsewhere rising into gentle hills. Broad meadows and farmland surround it, so the view from the water is open and typically Warmian.

Beach and recreation

A municipal beach has been laid out on the eastern shore. There is no lifeguard, but separate zones for children and adults are marked out, along with water-depth information. The spot is quiet and popular with families looking for a calmer alternative to the crowded Masurian beaches.

Fishing and surroundings

Jemiołowo is regarded as a pikeperch water and draws anglers. The lake is owned by the Szwaderki fish farm, which runs a shop and a fish fry-house in Szwaderki using fish from nearby ponds. Olsztynek itself makes a good base — the Museum of Folk Architecture, one of Poland's largest open-air museums, is minutes away.
