A ribbon lake in Wielkopolska National Park

Jezioro Góreckie lies in Poznań county near Mosina, in the Poznań Lakeland, within Wielkopolska National Park. It is a ribbon lake carved out by the Scandinavian ice sheet — narrow, with steep, heavily wooded banks, and counted among the most beautiful waters near Poznań.

Islands and a castle

Two islands lie in the middle of the lake. The larger, Wyspa Zamkowa (Castle Island), holds the ruins of a residence built for Klaudyna Potocka née Działyńska; the smaller is called Kopczysko. The islands cannot be visited, but they are clearly visible from the trails running along the high bank above the water.

Visiting and rules

Swimming is prohibited, as is picking plants — the lake is protected. Hiking and cycling routes run around it, including the section from Osowa Góra to Puszczykówko; nearby are the Natural History Museum of Wielkopolska National Park, the ecological station of Adam Mickiewicz University and the strict protection area „Grabina”.
