Wieś Stare Załucze
Jezioro Łukie is the largest body of water in Polesie National Park, located in the Urszulin commune in the Lublin Voivodeship, by the village of Stare Załucze, which took its name from the lake. It is a shallow basin surrounded by peat bogs and marshes, with inaccessible, densely overgrown shores — a typical feature of the Polesie landscape.
The lake is reached by the nature trail „Spławy”, largely laid out on wooden boardwalks. Along the way you pass hay and sedge meadows, transitional peat bogs, swamp forest and a rare horsetail forest. The whole route there and back is about 7.5 km, and a relaxed walk with wildlife watching deserves 2–3 hours.
Swimming and entering the water are out of the question: the lake is viewed from a wooden pier reaching over the surface, a good spot for birdwatching. A shelter with a resting place stands by the trail. The boardwalks and boggy ground make it difficult to move with a pushchair.
