Staw Zielony lies in the village of Klucze in Olkusz County, right beside the Błędów Desert. The water filled a former iron ore pit, and its greenish surface amid a sandy landscape makes a strong impression. Nearby is its twin, Staw Czerwony, formed in exactly the same way.
The yellow Desert Trail leads to the pond from the Czubatka viewpoint, which opens a panorama over the whole desert. A nature path starts by the ponds and runs across the Błędów Desert down to the Biała Przemsza river. Several short walking sections, a few hundred metres each, cross the area and lead in different directions.
The site is used for recreation and walking, but bathing is forbidden. Close to the yellow trail is the entrance to the Rudnicka Cave – its ceiling is badly cracked, so going inside is not advisable.
