A small pond above the Warta valley

Żabi Staw lies west of the village of Bobrowniki, about fifty metres above the Warta valley, on the Wieluń Upland at the southern edge of the Załęcze Landscape Park. The pond survives thanks to an impermeable rock layer that holds back rainwater.

Nature

It is a natural rarity on a regional scale. The surface is covered by white water lilies, a protected species that flowers most spectacularly in spring. The pond is a good spot for birdwatching, with water rail, little grebe and coot among the species seen. Amphibians are numerous: common and green toads, spadefoot toad and fire-bellied toad.

The surroundings

Around it stretches the Załęcze Landscape Park with walking and cycling routes and sections of the Warta Landscape Trail. The visit itself is short, so it is easy to combine with a longer walk in the great bend of the Warta.

Cost: Free admission Visit duration: approx. 30 minutes Seasonality: All year round, most attractive in spring and summer
