Via ferrata "Hurra Jura" (Całorocznik Ryczów)

"Hurra Jura" is the first via ferrata in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland (Jura) and the third in Poland. It has operated since 11 May 2025 at the Całorocznik Skała & Apartamenty facility in Ryczów, approx. 3 km from Ogrodzieniec Castle.

Location and surroundings

The route is located in the village of Ryczów in the Ogrodzieniec municipality (Silesian Voivodeship), on a Jurassic rock on the grounds of the Całorocznik resort. The ferrata's coordinates are approx. 50.4256°N, 19.5869°E, the car park approx. 50.426°N, 19.5892°E. The Kraków-Częstochowa Upland region is famous for its limestone outcrops and is a popular climbing area.

Offer / What to see

The route is approx. 120 metres long and rated A/B on the Austrian scale (easy). The elevation gain is approx. 30 m. The route features vertical sections, exposed traverses, a rope bridge, a wooden bridge, a ridge crossing and the so-called "devil's chimney". Safety is provided by instructors (Project Podzamcze).

Who it is for

The route is intended for beginners and more experienced climbers. A weight over 40 kg and a height of min. 140 cm are required; those below these parameters require additional rope belay or instructor supervision. A good spot for a first contact with a via ferrata and preparation for more difficult routes in the Alps.

Infrastructure

Equipment is available for rental on site (helmet, lanyard, harness) in limited quantities, along with a catering area, activities for children and a car park on the facility's grounds.
