A dam reservoir on the Kwisa

Jezioro Złotnickie was created by damming the Kwisa river between Gryfów Śląski and Leśna, in the Lubań district of Lower Silesia. The reservoir serves flood control and power generation, and has long been used for recreation as well. The water winds through a deeply cut valley, so the shoreline is highly varied and wooded slopes drop in places straight to the water.

Recreation by the water

Tourist facilities have grown up around the lake: holiday centres, tent fields, eateries and marinas with swimming areas. A water equipment rental operates here, so the lake can be explored by kayak or pedal boat. The sheltered, fish-rich shores also attract anglers.

The surroundings

The village of Złotniki Lubańskie once held town rights — the old town area dating from the 17th century is listed in the heritage register, although the leisure facilities have grown up outside it. Nearby, above Jezioro Leśniańskie, stands Czocha Castle, one of the best-known landmarks of this part of the Izera Foothills.
