ul. Jeziorna, Olsztyn
Jezioro Krzywe, also known as Ukiel, lies in the north-western part of Olsztyn, between the Dajtki, Gutkowo and Likusy districts. Covering around 400 hectares, it is the largest and deepest body of water within the city limits, and it owes its name to its strongly bent, crooked shape.
The lake consists of four basins linked by narrows and divided by bays and peninsulas — the largest of them, Ostrów, separates the central part known as Przejma from Zatoka Kopernika. Sailors value this layout, as it allows tacking in almost any wind direction.
City beaches with swimming areas, wild coves, sailing and kayak marinas, equipment rentals and a sports and recreation centre are spread along the shores. A pleasure boat runs in summer, while anglers catch bream, pike and perch here. Walking and cycling paths around the lake link the beaches with the city.
