The Midsummer Night's Dream Pond lies in the central part of the Parkowe nature reserve in Złoty Potok, in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. It owes its poetic name to the times of Zygmunt Krasiński, who used to stay in the village and gave literary names to the local ponds. The basin is fed by the waters of the Wiercica and changes colour with the seasons; because of the greenish tint given by algae it is also known as the Green Pond.
The pond is a refuge for water birds and amphibians, while the surrounding reserve protects beech woods, limestone outcrops and springs. It forms part of the so-called Golden Land of Trout — in Złoty Potok, Count Edward Raczyński founded one of the first trout farms in the Polish lands, using the clean and cool water of the Wiercica.
A walk along the Wiercica valley leads to further ponds, Irydion and Amerykan, and to the springs of Zygmunt and Elżbieta. In Złoty Potok itself it is worth seeing the Krasiński palace and manor house, the wooden Kołaczew mill and the entrance to the Bear Cave. The paths are narrow and rooty in places, so they are awkward for pushchairs.
