Wieś Rytwiany
Dziki Staw is a small nature reserve in the Rytwiany commune, Staszów County, on the Połaniec Upland that forms part of the Nida Basin. It protects a forest pond together with the riparian woodland around it. The area is quiet and little frequented, and the water surface mirrors the wall of trees.
The pond is a refuge for water and marsh birds — black stork, marsh harrier, grebe, common pochard and garganey can all be seen here. Rare plants grow in and around the water, including the cornflower Centaurea stenolepis and the floating fern salvinia. A larch stand with wood sorrel is also notable. The protected otter is a permanent resident.
The reserve is viewed from forest roads running along the shore; an unhurried walk around the area takes about an hour. Swimming in the pond is forbidden for conservation reasons, and visitors must keep to the marked routes. Bring binoculars — early morning and evening are the best times for watching.
