ul. Szkarotki, Wieś Połomia
Stawy Szkarotkowe are a cluster of water bodies hidden in the woods north of the village of Połomia, in Tarnowskie Góry County, about 20 km from the town of Tarnowskie Góry. The larger ones are called Szkarotkowe, the smaller and more overgrown ones Wesołe. No paved road reaches them, which is why the place has kept its wild character. Swimming is not allowed.
The ponds are a stop on the educational forest and nature trail of the Brynek Forest District. Information boards, a bench and a shelter stand by the water, so you can rest here for longer. Observation hides nearby let you watch animals without disturbing them; early morning and dusk are the best times.
The name Połomia means a forest of broken trees. The village was a noble estate mentioned as early as the 13th century and is one of the three oldest settlements in the Tworóg commune. The ground around the ponds is flat and easy to walk, so the stroll can be extended along forest tracks towards further pools.
