The largest lake in Greater Poland

Kierskie Lake lies in the western part of Poznań, on the Poznań Lakeland, among deciduous woods. It is the largest body of water in the city and in the whole Greater Poland province, a dozen or so kilometres from the centre. That makes it a natural recreational backyard for residents and visitors alike.

Water sports

The lake has long served as a sailing centre and in winter is used by ice yachters as well. It hosts the international swimming marathon „Wpław przez Kiekrz”. Two bathing areas operate on its shores — at Kaskada and Krzyżowniki — with beaches, piers, equipment rentals and zones for children. Krzyżowniki also offers sports pitches and yacht charter.

Good to know

Outside the summer season the lake attracts divers, including in winter. It also has economic functions: fish are farmed here and the water is used to irrigate nearby farmland. Walking and cycling paths run along the shores and allow you to cover a large part of the shoreline.
