A lake in the Brodnica Lake District

Jezioro Wysokie Brodno lies in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region, right next to the town of Brodnica, on the edge of the Brodnica Lake District. It covers about 91 hectares and has a highly varied shoreline full of bays, so from the water new layers of forest and reed beds keep opening up.

Angling and recreation

The lake is not meant for swimming, but it is well regarded by anglers. Bream dominate here, with perch and pike also taking the bait. Trips by boat and kayak are popular - the best way to reach the hard-to-access bays and to watch water birds from a safe distance.

The surroundings

Brodnica, with its preserved medieval street layout, the Chełmno Gate and the remains of a Teutonic castle, lies a few minutes from the shore. The Brodnica Lake District is a network of connected lakes and rivers crossed by well-known canoe routes, among them the Drwęca and the Skarlanka.
