A water reserve on the Charzykowy Plain

The Jezioro Krasne nature reserve protects a lobelia lake together with the peat bogs and swamp forests that surround it. It lies in the Przechlewo commune in Pomerania, on the Charzykowy Plain, and covers just under 43 hectares. Lobelia lakes hold exceptionally clear water, poor in nutrients — in Poland they occur almost exclusively in Pomerania.

Nature

Protection covers the plant communities typical of such habitats, among them water lobelia, marsh cranberry and peat mosses. The animals include numerous species of dragonflies, lizards, frogs and newts, while cranes, herons and goldeneyes appear on the water and among the reeds. Spring and early summer are the most rewarding time for birdwatching.

Visiting

This is a place for quiet, scenic rest rather than for swimming or sunbathing. Keep to the marked paths and stay off the peat bogs, which are fragile and easily damaged by trampling. The setting is the Pomeranian forest with its network of forest tracks, convenient for a walk or a bike ride.

Cost: Free admission Visit duration: approx. 1 hour Seasonality: Open all year; the best conditions for nature watching from spring to autumn
