A lake under strict protection

Lake Skrzynka is a small body of water of nearly seven hectares in the Brodnica Lake District, close to the village of Bachotek. It is under strict protection, so there is no bathing area or beach and swimming is forbidden — the lake has been left to natural processes. Access runs along forest roads from Bachotek, where the tourist traffic of the area concentrates.

Landscape

The shores are overgrown almost along their whole length with willow and alder, and beyond them stretches tall forest. Much of the surroundings is taken up by wet meadows and marshes, which makes the shoreline hard to reach and keeps the water exceptionally calm. It is a landscape typical of the overgrowing lakes of the Brodnica district.

Angling and the surroundings

The main use of the lake is fishing — the usual catches are perch and pike. It is worth combining a visit with a trip to nearby Lake Bachotek and a walk in the Brodnica Landscape Park, which covers this whole part of the lake district.

Cost: Free admission Visit duration: approx. 2 hours Seasonality: Open all year; access along forest roads is difficult in winter
