The beach in Karwia stretches along the Pomeranian Voivodeship coast, in the Puck district, on an open section of shoreline between Dębki and Jastrzębia Góra. It is considered one of the widest beaches on the Polish Baltic — the belt of pale sand is broad enough that even in the middle of the season a spot away from the crowd can be found.
On the landward side the beach is separated by a ridge of dunes covered with pine forest. It gives the area its distinctive atmosphere and makes the air noticeably resinous and rich in iodine, so a walk along the shore is rewarding for more than the views alone.
Two seaside bathing areas have been marked out on the beach, and several access points with wooden steps lead through the dunes. The area is kept clean and well managed: in summer bars and snack outlets operate, and playgrounds and slides have been prepared for the youngest visitors.
A marked hiking trail runs through the dune belt — a good idea for a longer walk towards the neighbouring villages, also outside the season, when the beach belongs almost entirely to walkers.
Karwia lies next to Jastrzębia Góra and Dębki, within the region of the Coastal Landscape Park. Nearby are the lighthouse at Rozewie and protected coastal areas rich in birdlife. The terrain is flat, which is why cyclists using the seaside routes readily explore it.
Access to the beach is free, and the wide, firm sand makes it easier to move around with a pushchair. The coast here is open and windy — an advantage for water sports enthusiasts, but in strong winds it is worth checking the flags at the bathing area.
