A flooded mine pit near Tarnobrzeg

Tarnobrzeg Lake was created on the site of a former opencast mine in Machów near Tarnobrzeg — the pit was filled with water from the Vistula and the reservoir opened to the public in 2010. Covering about 560 hectares, it is one of the largest recreational sites in the Podkarpacie region, developed and landscaped from scratch.

Beach and water sports

A wide sandy municipal beach with a watersports rental point was laid out along the shore. The Kotwica yacht club operates here, and the broad, open expanse of water suits sailing, windsurfing and kayaking trips. A cycle path leads to the bathing area from Tarnobrzeg.

Good to know

Car parks and food outlets stand next to the beach, which makes the lake a convenient stop on a journey through Podkarpacie. It is busiest on summer weekends; outside the season the shores belong mainly to walkers and anglers.
