By the water in the Kórnik district

Jezioro Bnińskie lies in Greater Poland, in the Kórnik district on the Września Plain, a dozen or so kilometres south-east of Poznań. The lake belongs to the Kórnik chain of lakes and adjoins Jezioro Kórnickie, together forming an extensive water system among fields, meadows and small woods. Access to the shore leads mainly from Błażejewo and Bnin.

What to see

In the northern part the shoreline is cut by the Szyja peninsula, where two strongholds were discovered in the 1960s — traces of early medieval settlement. The banks are mostly gentle and in places overgrown with reeds, which makes them good for watching water birds. A holiday centre in Błażejewo, well known locally, operates by the lake.

Who it suits

The lake is popular with anglers and water sports enthusiasts — sailing, kayaking and boarding. The shallower, calm parts of the bays suit a stay with children, and the shoreline road allows a short walk or a bike ride.
