Jezioro Berzyńskie lies in the Wolsztyn municipality in Greater Poland and, with a surface of more than 300 hectares, ranks among the larger water bodies of the region. It serves as a retention reservoir and the Dojca river flows through it. The banks are low and in places heavily overgrown with reeds, giving a landscape typical of the lakeland.
The reed beds around the lake are a good place for watching water birds: bittern, little bittern, greylag goose, great crested grebe and coot can all be seen here. The water holds perch, roach, rudd, tench, carp, catfish and the rare weatherfish. Early morning is the best time for observation, so bring binoculars.
Anglers should keep in mind the catch limits and the protected species that must not be taken, among them the bitterling, weatherfish, spined loach and stone loach. Wolsztyn itself is famous for its working steam locomotive shed, one of the last in Europe, so a stay by the lake pairs easily with a visit to the town.
