A lake in the Wonieść chain

Jezioro Łoniewskie lies in the South Greater Poland Lowland, within the boundaries of the town of Osieczna. It is the highest lying body of water in the Wonieść lake chain and is classed as a pikeperch type lake, since the pikeperch is the leading species here. The shoreline is varied, cut into by a picturesque peninsula.

Beaches and rest

A beach has been laid out on the peninsula, with holiday resorts around it. On the opposite side of the lake there is a second beach known as Stanisławówka. The area suits walking and cycling trips, and Osieczna itself is famous for its group of wooden post mills standing on a hill above the town.

History and angling

Remains of an early medieval stronghold from the time when the Polish state was taking shape were discovered near the lake. For anglers the main target is the pikeperch, though eel and the usual coarse fish species also live here. The water birds nesting in the reed beds are worth a look.
