Wieś Szymonka
Lake Szymoneckie lies in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in the Miłki commune, right in the heart of the Great Masurian Lakes. It covers about 480 hectares, is almost three kilometres long and has an unusual shape — it forms the south-western arm of Lake Łagodne and connects with Lake Szymon. The nearest village is Szymonka, which gave the lake its name.
The Giżycko–Mikołajki waterway runs across the lake. The chain of connected basins makes it possible to sail for hours without turning back, which is why the spot is valued by sailors and rowers training over longer distances. In summer yachts, boats and motorboats criss-cross the water, with traffic concentrating in the narrows between the lakes.
The shoreline is varied: some stretches are overgrown with reeds and remain hard to reach, while others are open for swimming and fitted with jetties and small marinas. Quieter bays serve anglers and work as mooring spots for sailing boats.
