The heart of the Great Masurian Lakes

Jezioro Mikołajskie is a ribbon lake of some 500 hectares and nearly 6 km in length, set in the southern part of the so-called Great Channel in Masuria. It connects with Śniardwy, Bełdany and Tałty, forming an important link in the Masurian shipping route. The northern and eastern shores belong to the town of Mikołajki, the southern one is low and boggy, and the western side borders the forests of Puszcza Piska.

On the water and along the shore

Marinas, holiday resorts and rental points for water equipment – from kayaks to yachts – are concentrated in the northern part of the lake. Passenger boats set off from here towards Śniardwy and Bełdany. The promenade in Mikołajki, with its bridge over the strait, is a natural starting point for a walk along the water.

For anglers and holidaymakers

The lake is regularly restocked; anglers catch perch, bream, pike and eel here. Families with children use the shallow, sandy entries to the water on the town side, while those seeking quiet will find it on the wooded western banks.
