A ribbon lake in the Pszczew Landscape Park

Lake Chłop lies in the Lubusz Voivodeship, in the Międzyrzecz district, near the village of Pszczew, within the Pszczew Landscape Park. It belongs to the so-called Zbąszyń Lakes trough — a long glacial depression in which one lake follows another. The lake itself has the characteristic elongated shape typical of ribbon lakes.

It is a flow-through lake fed by the Obra river. Its water is regarded as clean, which together with the surrounding forests makes the place one of the more valued tourist corners of the Lubusz region.

What to do

The lake lends itself above all to quiet relaxation: swimming, kayaking or sailing, and angling. The sprawling shoreline hides small bays where it is easy to find peace even in the middle of summer.

Several holiday centres and campsites operate along the shores, among others in the area of Borowa Zatoka. This makes it possible to plan both a one-day outing and a longer stay.

The surroundings

The Pszczew Landscape Park protects a mosaic of lakes, peat bogs, meadows and forests. Hiking and cycling trails run through the area along the successive lakes of the trough, and the Obra valley is an interesting terrain for birdwatchers. Pszczew itself is a small village with a preserved historic layout and a distinctly holiday atmosphere.

Good to know

Access to the lake is free in many places, although parts of the shore belong to holiday centres. When moving around the landscape park it is worth keeping to the marked paths and remembering the rules that apply in protected areas.
