A beach between the sea and Lake Jamno

The beach in Unieście lies in the West Pomeranian commune of Mielno, on the narrow strip of land separating the Baltic from Lake Jamno. Unieście is a former fishing settlement, today part of Mielno, and the access paths to the sand lead from Wydmowa Street among others, through a belt of coastal dunes and pine forest.

A quieter alternative to Mielno

The wide, sandy shore is noticeably less crowded here than in the centre of Mielno, which is why the beach attracts people looking for peace and quiet. There is enough room to spread a blanket or a deckchair well away from others, and a walk along the water can be extended by several kilometres in either direction.

The fishing character of the area

Traces of the fishing past have survived by the beach — boats stand on the sand, and nearby there is a smokehouse and a Fishing Museum, around which tourist traffic is heaviest. On the other side of the spit, Lake Jamno tempts visitors with sailing, windsurfing and angling.
