Jezioro Barlewickie lies within the boundaries of the town of Sztum, in the Iława Lake District. It is a flow-through ribbon lake of about 67 hectares, connected on the south-western side with Lake Sztumskie. Together they form a watery frame around the old town, and the lake itself adjoins the municipal park of Sztum.
The lake has not been developed for tourism – there is no beach, no bathing area and no equipment rental. The shores serve mainly walkers, runners and cyclists, while the water itself is regularly visited by anglers.
A visit to the lake is worth combining with sightseeing in Sztum, including the castle that served as the summer residence of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. Several cycling routes run through the area: the Gothic Castles Cycle Trail in Powiśle, the international R-1 route, the Vistula Trail, the Copernicus Trail and the Vistula Cycling Route.
