Mielno
The Jamieński Nurt, also called Jamneński, is a narrow water channel in the Mielno municipality linking Lake Jamno with the Baltic Sea. It is about 700 metres long and barely 20 metres wide. It formed when the sea broke through the sandbar separating it from the lake, and today it marks the boundary between Mielno-Unieście and Łazy.
The channel is fitted with storm gates, a structure protecting the surrounding area from water surges during gales. The bridge spanning the canal joins the two parts of the sandbar and makes a good vantage point: from it you can see Lake Jamno, the open sea and the water flowing between them.
Wide sandy beaches stretch around the outlet, so a visit is easily combined with swimming and sunbathing. The spot works well as the goal of a short shoreline walk or a stop on a cycling route along the sandbar.
