A large lake of the Olsztyn Lakeland

Lake Pluszne lies in the Olsztyn Lakeland near Olsztynek, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It owes its name to the village of Pluski on its shore. This is a broad body of water covering some 900 hectares and stretching up to 8 kilometres, with an exceptionally developed shoreline of more than thirty kilometres.

Landscape and leisure

The banks form numerous peninsulas and bays, and the forests of Warmia spread all around. The lake is covered by a quiet zone, which gives a stay here a calm character. Many holiday cottages and private guest rooms stand by the water, and paths along the shore are convenient for walking and cycling.

On and under the water

Anglers come here for pike, perch and vendace. The clear water also attracts divers, who have found wrecks of Second World War aircraft on the bottom. Conditions favour non-motorised water sports, including windsurfing and kayaking.
