Lake Martwa Dziwna lies in Dziwnów, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. This elongated body of water was once the natural mouth of the Dziwna river; after the flow changed it was cut off from the main current and today forms a calm, gradually overgrowing lake surrounded by forest and reed beds.
The area is protected under the Natura 2000 network and holds the status of an ecological site, so there is no supervised beach or bathing area. Visiting means walking or cycling along the shores – a forest cycling route runs from the western side of the lake towards Międzywodzie.
This is a place for those seeking quiet, for birdwatchers and for nature photographers: wetland species nest in the reeds and marshy thickets, and game is easily spotted in the nearby woods. A visit combines well with sightseeing in Dziwnów itself and its seaside promenade.
