A pond complex by Białystok

The Dojlidy Ponds are a group of nineteen reservoirs with a combined area of about 140 hectares, spread across the Dojlidy district of Białystok and the neighbouring municipalities of Supraśl and Zabłudów. They were created by damming the waters of the Biała river, and their surroundings are made up of forests, meadows and fields.

The city beach

The pond reached from Plażowa street in Białystok has been developed for recreation. There is a city beach with a bathing area and leisure facilities, as well as a Water Sports Centre run by the Białystok Sports and Recreation Centre. It is the most accessible point of the whole complex and a popular summer destination for residents.

A birdwatcher's paradise

The remaining ponds belong to water birds. Around 200 species have been recorded here, including ones rare in Poland: great white and little egret, shelduck, black-throated diver, kittiwake and golden eagle. Some of them are not even found in the nearby national parks, which makes this an outstanding observation site.
