ul. Przemysława, Przemyśl
Zniesienie is a hill on the edge of Przemyśl, topped by an earthen mound at 352 m above sea level. The name comes from the defeat of Tatar troops at this spot, and legend sees the mound as the grave of a fallen khan. Earlier still, the rise is said to have been a place of worship of the Slavic gods.
A wide panorama opens from the summit area: the Sandomierz Basin to the north, the Przemyśl Foothills and the Sanok-Turka Mountains to the south, and below the hill the townscape of Przemyśl with its ring of fortress works. The view is clearest early in the morning and after a weather front, when the air is free of haze.
The site has been developed: walking and cycling paths were laid out, a picnic shelter was put up and a small amphitheatre was built. Entry is free and possible all year round, dogs included. A yellow trail leads to the hill, and it can also be reached by car from ul. Przemysława.
