The viewing tower in Gniewino

Kaszubskie Oko is a 44-metre viewing tower standing on a rise of about 113 m above sea level, at the centre of a recreation complex in Gniewino, close to the upper reservoir of the Żarnowiec pumped-storage power plant. Two hundred and twelve steps lead to the terrace, often the hardest part of the visit.

Panorama and garden

From the top you see the rolling Kashubian countryside, the surface of the reservoir and a mosaic of forests, and when the air is clear also the distant coastline. A French-style garden was laid out at the foot of the tower — from above, the pattern of its beds together with the tower forms the shape of an eye, which gave the place its name.

For families

The complex is designed for a longer stop: there are walking paths, a playground, a minigolf course, a chessboard and dinosaur models. The approach leads from ul. Pomorska in Gniewino. Access to the terrace is paid, and the narrow stairs can be a challenge for anyone afraid of heights.

  • Ticket office at the foot of the tower
  • Car park by the complex
  • Playground and minigolf course
  • Walking paths in the garden
Visit duration: approx. 30 minutes
