ul. Kolejki Leśne 12, Hajnówka
The narrow-gauge forest railway in Hajnówka was built by the Germans during the First World War to haul timber out of the Białowieża Forest. After commercial use ended the tracks were kept, and today they serve tourist rides that start from the station on ul. Kolejki Leśne.
The main ride covers about 11 km from Hajnówka to Topiło and takes close to three hours including stops. A shorter version of 6 km ends in the valley of the Leśna River. During the breaks you can step out and see the forest at close range — the line passes the Głęboki Kąt reserve with its natural peat bogs.
Old locomotives and carriages stand on the station grounds in Hajnówka and can be viewed up close. In Topiło a small bar operates in season. From the centre of Hajnówka take ul. 3 Maja and turn into ul. Celna past the cemetery. The ride uses open and covered carriages, so warm clothing is worth having.
