The Stawiki Recreation Centre lies in Sosnowiec, a few minutes from the city centre, next to the Jan Fusiński Park and the Piastów housing estate. The lake belongs to the Szopienice–Borki nature and landscape complex, and the whole site is managed by the municipal sports and recreation authority. Renovations carried out in recent years turned the former bathing spot into an extensive leisure area, popular with residents of the Silesian conurbation and with visitors.
The heart of the site is a supervised bathing area with a sandy beach, and next to it operates a cable park for wakeboarding and water skiing — one of the largest of its kind in the region. Beginners can learn from scratch, while more advanced riders polish their technique on the obstacles. Along the shore there is an outdoor gym, walking paths and shaded resting spots.
It offers a few hours of active leisure during a stop in the Silesian conurbation. It works well when travelling with children — the shallower part of the bathing area and the green surroundings let you combine the beach with water sports.
