Księżogórska, Radzionków
Księża Góra Park spreads across the hill of the same name in Radzionków, right on the border with Piekary Śląskie. It is one of those spots in Upper Silesia where the industrial landscape gives way to trees and meadows. From the top there is a panorama of Radzionków, Piekary Śląskie, Bytom and Siemianowice Śląskie — on a clear day the view reaches far into the conurbation.
The park was designed as a place of active recreation for whole families. Walking and cycling paths run across it, and there are playgrounds, an outdoor gym, a grass pitch and an all-weather sports complex. For children aged three to twelve there is a rope park of gentle difficulty. The hill is also home to the Silesian Botanical Garden, which adds a natural-history thread to the walk.
For an extra fee you can use the municipal bathing area, the tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, a football pitch and a go-kart track. Entry to the park itself remains free.
The place works equally well for families with small children, runners, cyclists and anyone who simply wants to sit on a shaded bench with a book. Dogs are welcome, and the wide, hardened paths make moving around with a pushchair easy.
The park is open all year, although the widest choice of attractions falls in the warmer months. Drinks, ice cream and small snacks can be bought nearby. The hill is often a starting point for short trips around the neighbouring towns, including the sanctuary in Piekary Śląskie.
