The trip starts in Sromowce Niżne in the Czorsztyn commune and follows the scenic Dunajec gorge all the way to Szczawnica. The river cuts here into the limestone rocks of the Pieniny Mountains, forming tight bends and steep walls visible straight from the raft.
Covering the route usually takes two to three hours, depending on the water level and the weather. The current on this stretch is calm, so paddling comes down to an unhurried, shared rhythm of the whole crew — a single pontoon holds more than a dozen people. Participants receive life jackets and helmets, and an experienced helmsman steers the boat. For those after stronger sensations, rafting is organised on the faster-flowing sections of the river.
This is a family option: children accompanied by adults manage without difficulty. It is worth combining the trip with other Pieniny attractions — a rope park, a hike to Trzy Korony or a bike ride along the Dunajec. Access from Nowy Targ via road no. 49.
