A Former Gravel Pit near Supraśl

The gravel pit lakes in Ogrodniczki occupy a disused gravel excavation site on the edge of the Knyszyn Forest, a few kilometres from Supraśl. After extraction ended, the place became overgrown and turned into an informal recreational area.

Landscape and Things to Do

The extensive site consists of sandy heaps and hollows in which water has collected, creating small ponds surrounded by pines. The loose ground and the slopes of the excavation attract cyclists looking for rougher terrain and motocross riders, and in winter the natural slopes serve for sledging. It is also a good spot for a quiet walk off the marked trails.

Good to Know

Swimming is at your own risk — there is no supervised bathing area or lifeguard, and the banks can be steep. Since 2011 a military picnic called Misja Wschód has been held here after Corpus Christi. The gravel pit lies by road no. 676, along which the Eastern Cycle Trail runs.

Cost: Free admission Visit duration: approx. 1 hour Seasonality: Open all year
