The Calm River of Ponidzie

The Nida is a left-bank tributary of the Vistula, 151 km long, formed where the Biała Nida and the Czarna Nida meet. It winds lazily through meadows and rarely exceeds a metre in depth, which makes the route suitable for beginners and families. Kayaks are hired at the campsite in Brzegi.

How the Trip Runs

The marked section is about 15 km long and takes three to five hours to paddle. Along the way there are small islands, inlets and fallen branches that add variety. The finish is in Stare Kotlice, where the operator picks participants up.

Good to Know

There is no fixed timetable — you set your own pace and only need to reach the finish before evening. The shallow water lets you step into the river at any point, which matters on hot days. Trips are organised in the summer season.

  • Kayak rental at the campsite in Brzegi
  • Transport of participants from the finish
  • Campsite at the start point
  • Car park
Visit duration: approx. 4 hours Seasonality: Summer season (May–September)
