Biebrza River Trips

On the water in the Biebrza valley

The trip base operates in Sztabin in the Augustów district, on the Biebrza — a river some 164 km long, flowing slowly through the largest complex of peat bogs in Poland. The current is calm, with no drops or rapids, so the routes are also manageable for people without experience. Both trips of a few hours and multi-day expeditions are available.

Canoe or raft

Besides canoes there are wooden rafts with a roofed cabin, where you can sleep and take shelter from the rain. A raft trip lasts from a few hours up to a week, a canoe trip even nine days, with daily stages of a dozen or so kilometres. The route can be arranged individually or taken from a ready-made offer for a private or guided trip.

What you see along the way

The Biebrza valley is regarded as one of the best birdwatching areas in Europe — from the water you see floodplains, marshy meadows and wetland birds, and with some luck also elk. It is worth bringing binoculars, mosquito repellent and waterproof covers for luggage.
