The arboretum in Stradomia

The Prof. Stefan Białobok Forest Arboretum lies in Stradomia Dolna within the Syców Forest District, north-east of Wrocław. It covers several hundred hectares of woodland, of which several dozen form the actual collection area. It is one of the largest facilities of this kind in Poland.

Plant collections

Gymnosperms and angiosperms, perennials and rare protected species have been gathered here. The collection of conifers — spruces, firs and pines — is regarded as one of the richest in the country. The plantings sit within a natural stand of trees, so a visit feels like a walk in a forest rather than a city park.

Education and visiting

An educational trail devoted to invasive plants of foreign origin runs across the grounds. The arboretum hosts school trips and runs classes in nature and forestry education. A visit takes at least an hour, and sturdy shoes help on a longer walk, as some of the paths are unsurfaced.

  • Forest car park at the entrance
  • Educational trail with information boards
  • Waymarked walking paths
  • Rest spots with benches
Visit duration: approx. 1 hour Seasonality: Growing season (April–October)
