Drawno
The Drawa flows through the Drawsko Lakeland, the Drawsko Plain and the edge of the Wałcz Lakeland in north-western Poland. Although this is lakeland country, the river behaves like a mountain stream: it has rapids, a brisk current and numerous fallen trees. It rises near the village of Zdroje, in the Drawsko Landscape Park.
The routes marked out on the Drawa total more than 170 km, and the main one bears the name of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, who paddled this river. The most popular stretch runs within the Drawa National Park — narrow, shaded and leading between old stands of trees. The trail is divided into one-day and multi-day stages.
Some trips set off from Drawno, the seat of the Drawa National Park and its tourist information point — a good place to check the current rules for paddling inside the park. The town lies in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, on regional road no. 175. Trips are run by local rental companies, usually with kayak transport included.
