Żegluga Mazurska is a shipping operator running passenger cruises along the Great Masurian Lakes route. Its office and main pier are in Giżycko on Kolejowa Street, and cruises also depart from Węgorzewo, Mikołajki, Ruciane-Nida and Rydzewo. The fleet numbers more than a dozen vessels – from large ships carrying around 140 passengers, through smaller excursion boats, to a catamaran.
The routes cross the region's best-known waters: Niegocin, Mamry, Śniardwy, Dargin, Kirsajty, Święcajty, Dobskie and Nidzkie. The ships also pass through the canals and locks linking the lakes – usually the most interesting part of the trip. From the water, the Boyen Fortress, the swing bridges and the wooded shores of the Piska Forest look entirely different.
Cruises run in the summer season, on a timetable that depends on the port of departure. It is a comfortable way to sightsee with children and with a dog, without long walking. Vessels can also be chartered for group trips or private celebrations.
