The Wisłoka is around 164 km long and flows into the Vistula near the village of Ostrówek, which gives paddlers plenty of freedom in choosing a section. One of the starting points is Podleszany near Mielec in the Subcarpathian region, but a trip can begin and end at many places along the river.
The river runs through the Low Beskids, the Jasło, Ciężkowice and Strzyżów Foothills, the Jasło-Sanok Depression and the Sandomierz Basin. The landscape therefore changes from mountainous, with a faster current and a stony bed, to calm lowland stretches with a wide channel and sandy banks. The shores are mostly wooded and thinly built up.
For a single day the recommended routes are Przecław–Mielec, Dębica–Mielec, Mielec–Gawłuszowice, Pilzno–Dębica and Gawłuszowice–Baranów Sandomierski; they measure 14 to 20 km and take between 3.5 and 8 hours. The Wisłoka remains a mountain river and at higher water levels can surprise less experienced paddlers — before a longer trip it is worth checking conditions with local operators.
