Vistula Boulevard in Kazimierz Dolny

A promenade on the flood embankment

The Vistula Boulevard runs along Kazimierz Dolny on the crown of the flood embankment, separating the historic town from the river channel. The easiest approach is along Nadwiślańska Street, or Senatorska Street coming from the Market Square. The raised bank means the walk leads several metres above the riverside meadows, with open views in both directions.

What you can see

On the town side a panorama of old Kazimierz unfolds: the parish church, the castle ruins, the lone watchtower on the hill and the brick granaries from the days when the town grew rich on the grain trade. On the other side flows the Vistula, with excursion boats and kayaks passing by. The view is at its best in the late afternoon, when the light picks out the slopes of the nearby gorges.

Who it suits

The route is flat and surfaced, so families with pushchairs, seniors and cyclists manage it easily — a cycle path runs along the embankment. Dogs are welcome. A boat harbour, restaurants, bars and cafés sit beside the boulevard, so a short stroll easily turns into a longer stop.
