Park Mużakowski straddles the Lusatian Neisse — lying partly in Łęknica in the Lubusz Voivodeship and partly in the German town of Bad Muskau. It covers around 728 hectares, more than 500 of them on the Polish side, which makes it the largest English-style garden in Poland and one of the largest landscape compositions in Europe.
The park was created by Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, who began work in 1815 following English garden models. Instead of geometric axes he designed sightlines linking meadows, clumps of trees and water into a single composition set within the river valley. The approach was judged a breakthrough in European landscape architecture, and in 2004 the park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The residential core with the castle lies on the German side, reached by a bridge over the Neisse. On the Polish side walking and cycling routes link the park bridges: the Viaduct, the Prince Bridge, the Royal Bridge, the Double Bridge and the English Bridge.
