The spa heart of Szczawnica

The Upper Spa Park occupies the central part of the Szczawnica spa resort in the Pieniny mountains, along 3 Maja Street. It was laid out as a setting for the spa quarter and still serves that role: it links promenades, historic spa buildings and greenery spread across a gentle slope. It is a few minutes' walk from the town centre.

What to see

Among the trees stand a historic guest manor, a neo-Gothic spa chapel and a bandstand, as well as a bust of Józef Szalay, the founder of the resort. The park also holds an inhalatorium and sanatoria that use the local mineral waters. The plantings include ornamental trees and shrubs, some of them rarely seen in a mountain climate.

Who it suits

The alleys are even and wide, so the park is used by spa guests, families with children, runners and nordic walkers alike. It is also a convenient starting point for the Pieniny trails and the Dunajec river. Entry is free and the grounds are open all year.
