Arboretum near Racibórz

The Moravian Gate Arboretum lies a few kilometres from the centre of Racibórz, inside the extensive Obora forest. This dendrological garden combines collections of trees and shrubs with a recreational area, and its layout rests on a network of paths running between the planting quarters. The name refers to the Moravian Gate — the natural lowland between the Sudetes and the Carpathians.

What to see

The largest part of the grounds is taken up by the Enchanted Garden with its extensive plantings. Besides the plant collections there is a mini zoo, a reconstruction of a historic stronghold, ponds and a viewing platform overlooking the tree canopy and the surrounding countryside. The Green Classroom educational trail explains species and natural relationships.

Who it suits

This is a place for a calm outing of a few hours with children — the paths are surfaced and the attractions spread out so that the walk is not tiring. The viewing platform belongs to the Euroregion Silesia trail of towers and platforms, where you can stamp the project seal. Dogs are welcome on a lead.
