ul. Parkowa, Wieś Białowieża
A historic garden complex on the edge of the village, right at the border of the Białowieża Forest. It was created at the end of the 19th century as the setting for the hunting residence of the Russian tsars. Today the grounds belong to Białowieża National Park and form a natural gateway to Poland's most famous woodland.
The park houses the Nature and Forest Museum with a viewing tower that opens up a panorama of the surrounding forests. Wooden buildings of the former residence have survived. The layout follows the English garden tradition: loose groups of trees, meadows and two ponds instead of clipped hedgerows.
This is a place for a quiet walk, also with children and with a dog. The paths are surfaced and passable with a pushchair. Bird lovers will hear woodpeckers, flycatchers, bullfinches and hawfinches here, especially by the ponds and among the old trees.
