An open-air museum of the Żywiec region

Żywiecki Park Etnograficzny is one of the youngest open-air museums in Poland. It documents the everyday life of the highlanders of the Żywiec Beskids: their farming, timber architecture and old crafts. The buildings were moved here from nearby villages, among them Korbielów, Rychwałd and Międzybrodzie Bialskie.

What to see

The grounds hold more than a dozen wooden structures: a peasant farmstead with a dwelling house, a herbalist's cottage, a granary, a school, a pharmacy and a water-powered sawmill. The reconstruction also covers the small details of village life — cellars, wells, crosses and wayside shrines.

How to visit

You can walk the exhibitions on your own, with a guide, or with an audio guide borrowed at the tourist information point. The site is spacious and mostly flat, so a visit works well with children.
