Ogród Saski lies in the very centre of Warsaw, between Piłsudski Square and Marszałkowska Street. It was laid out as a palace garden in the French style and was the first in Poland opened to city dwellers. After the destruction of the late 18th century it was remodelled in the English style then in fashion.
Across more than fifteen hectares you will find Baroque sculptures, a fountain from the mid-19th century, a sundial and a water reservoir shaped like a rotunda. The tree stand consists of horse chestnuts, black poplars, small-leaved limes, Norway maples and ginkgos.
A convenient place for a break while sightseeing in the capital: the alleys are wide and surfaced, and there is no shortage of benches. The park adjoins the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where military ceremonies and changes of the guard take place.
